San Francisco is very special to us – I met both my husband and many of our closest friends at Stanford, and we spent many fun weekends in the city. Since college, many of us have moved all around the world, so it was great to see our friends and family back where it all started. To pay homage to San Francisco’s history, we transported the wedding party and our guests from the hotel to the venue via a classic cable car, and we had custom fortune cookies from Chinatown as wedding favors. We were intrigued by the idea of an outdoor wedding and reception, but after seeing the Flood Mansion, we knew that it was the perfect venue. To fuse the two ideas together, we decided to bring our favorite elements of the outdoors indoors. We had our ceremony outside in the courtyard. Then the reception moved indoors, where we featured pastel colors, a leaf-patterned ceiling wash, and garden flowers. To add an element of whim, we had a series of small bouquets on each table, placed in teapots and teacups. To end our magical night, we had a four-layered cake with sugar roses and five different types of petite desserts.
